The more I read about Dr. Filippenko, the more impressed I am with him. Despite the demands on his time in research, TV, etc., he teaches an intro Astronomy course for non-science majors. The smile he always seems to have is the look of a person who loves his profession and wants to share his knowledge with anyone who is interested. How cool would it be to spend a few hours with him picking his brain?

TOTALLY! I'm a massage therapist and a mother of 2 boys under the age of 6. I exercise EVERYDAY, always have. Weights, cardio, yoga. I eat alot, but all my food is lean protein, low carbohydrate and lots of vegetables. I weigh 165 and I'm a size 8. Last year during a routine physical, a "doctor" looked at my height and weight on a chart and without looking at me said, "OK, you know you are overweight. So, what are you going to do about that?" I left the office in tears. Bastard.

I was just playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and I gotta tell ya, you're right on the money. Storm is by far the worst superhero to play as in the game. I was just trying to clear a boss fight using her and she couldn't win even when the boss had a thread of health left! All of her superpowers are slow and are also weak. It's going to take a long time to increase her attributes to make her anywhere as powerful (or useful) as Spiderman, Captain America, etc. I thought that I might be overreacting, but now I know someone else shares my feelings on the subject.

Excellent once again Dave. It reminds of what C.S. Lewis said about the benevolent despot. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive...those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end,for they do so with the approval
of their own conscience."

Well said and I think if the government would back out of our lives and our money, then the world's most generous nation would become even more charitable, solving more problems.

I've also heard it quoted another way: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny."
