I am a fan of the collected works of one Ian Thornley and have mentioned such several times. I was excited for a few minutes when I found out about this contest:
A few years back the band I was in played a show that benefited Operation Smile. This was the first occasion that I had heard of this organization that helps mostly kids with cleft lips and/or palates and other facial deformities. After that show, even though I was a dirt poor college student I gave money to the organization cause it seemed to be a very nice cause.
The young boy that I put in the end of this list named Erik Martin passed away. He made it quite a long way for someone with so many obstacles and you have to admire that.
A motorcyclist was trapped under a burning car in Logan Utah when a group of people banded together despite the heat and danger of explosion to lift the car and pull the man out.
The title may be a bit overly dramatic but we should all be at least a little disappointed. Some time ago I saw that Nike had filed for a patent on something that got me very excited. I saw an announcement the other day that I thought would be the realization of years of hopes. Sadly this was not the case and I must voice my disappointment.
I am a big fan of capitalism. Although it is not my pie-in-the-sky favorite dream system, I see it as a system that truly reflects what is in the character of the people. I see it as a system that can automatically punish those who have poor character. I have argued that what we have in the U.S. is really an ugly hybrid of capitalism and various oligarchical traits.
