This is the first song I ever wrote. I wrote it on my first guitar of course, which was named “Bloody Fingers”. The guitar was purchased from a friend for $10 and was a classical acoustic with bronze wound strings on it (hence the name). I had just looked up some chords and made this song change fingers around those basic chords. I have always been pleased with how it sounded, which I cannot say for many of the songs that came soon after it. This song also features my patent pending “elbow shake” acoustic effect maker.

Written and recorded in 2004 in an apartment bedroom.

I wrote this and recorded it within about a 20 minute time frame and it has been one of my favorites ever since. I even like the low quality mic sound on this one. It was recorded with a directly input bass and two acoustic tracks through a cheap PC mic. The name is after Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo Texas.

This here is a song that my grandpa first introduced me to while we were buying supplies to build a fence for my aunt. Everyone and their dog has done their own version of it, so I figured I would throw mine in too. I really see this song as one of the all time greats.

Taking inspiration from an elderly couple singing songs and selling tapes at a Furr’s Cafeteria in Las Vegas I decided the old ball and chain and I would record some songs. Personally I am proud of this piece of work given the low number of takes and the fact that we were recording in a closet in our old barrio.

In the eighth and ninth grade I had a friend who’s father had to have part of his cheek removed because he used so much chewing tobacco.  Oddly enough, this friend used tobacco himself.  Fast forward a few years and I was practicing with my band.  My buddy started playing a nice little country song he had written and there was a paper and pen right in front of me.

Written in 2007. Recorded in 2009 in a basement.

Wrote this for a friend who used to be in a band with me. He was a little older than me and used to let me play his guitar when I was a little punk kid. Years after that, we made the band and would get together on Wednesdays, play songs and then go eat gigantic burritos. This one’s for Mike.

I was on Ruckus (which gives you free songs if you have an edu email and sign up as a student) and I found Weezer has put out a Christmas EP. They had an album earlier this year which was one of the best albums this year and now they are finishing things up for 2008 nicely.
